Best Cannabis Products for Women

Men and Women Consume cannabis differently

Sometimes, words like anxiety and stress are synonymous to a woman’s life. While some can cope with the stress on their own, others require assistance. For those who do prefer assistance, cannabis is a welcome reliever.

A recent survey showed women prefer cannabis for solving health issues; a stark difference to men’s desire to simply smoking the plant for relaxation and fun. However, in terms of usage frequency, the gap between women and men is slowly shrinking. Further, researchers are suggesting that the use of marijuana affects women and men differently.

Due to social stigma, most women avoid smoking cannabis and resort to easier options such as CBD (Cannabidiol, a cannabinoid identified in cannabis) oil, gummies, cream and more. Men, on the other hand, prefer THC (Tetrahydrocannabiniol, a popular cannabinoid identified in cannabis), and mostly consume it by smoking cannabis.

Besides social stigma, lower health risks associated with CBD make it the preferred choice for females. Also, women mostly find this CBD preferable, given their goal of simply finding relief from chronic pain or other discomfort.

Given the differences in reasons for cannabis use in women and men, along with differences in preference, products are also gender-specific. To further analyze these preferences, a closer look at the cannabis products women prefer, along with their advantages and disadvantages, follows.

With an increased demand for medicinal cannabis, CBD and THC are slowly gaining popularity among the masses. A simplified explanation of the difference between CBD and THC is that THC gets you high, whereas CBD doesn’t. It’s believed that this precise distinction explains women’s preference for the noon-intoxicating CBD over THC.

CBD is the second most abundant cannabinoid in cannabis. When women consume CBD, they get relief from unwanted pain with zero or little effect on cognitive abilities.  Also, unlike THC, prolonged use of CBD does not damage the heart and the brain. Interestingly, in many cases, CBD can counteract the effects of THC and reduce its psychoactive impact.

These differences in effect are what drive female preference for CBD products over THC. Several benefits of the CBD cannabinoid exists, some disadvantages of its use also exist. Here are some pros and cons.

Pros of CBD products:

  • Relief from pain
CBD is a more natural way of reducing pain and should be given preference over prescription medicine and over-the-counter drugs.
  • Helps in quitting smoking
According to research, smokers who use CBD products in inhalers end up smoking fewer cigarettes than those who use cannabis in smoke-able forms.
Health benefits of CBD src
  • Treatment for epilepsy
CBD oil is renowned for treating epilepsy. In 2018, the FDA (United States of America’s Food and Drug Administration) approved the use of CBD oil as a therapy for two patients with epileptic seizures.
  • Fights cancer
According to a British journal, CBD can prevent the spread of cancer. It suppresses the growth of cancer cells and helps in their destruction.
  • Acne treatment
CBD products are useful in reducing acne, and aid in preventing their outburst.

These CBD benefits make it an ideal choice for women suffering from pain and discomfort.

Cons of CBD products:

  • Dryness in mouth
Dryness of the mouth, also referred to as the cottonmouth, during and/or after CBD consumption, is a common side-effect of consuming CBD products.
  • Drowsiness
When taken in high quantities, CBD oil can cause drowsiness. However, drowsiness usually ceases if the the amount of the CBD oil consumed is reduced.
  • Interferes with medication
In many cases, CBD oil tends to disrupt daily medications. Thus, CBD oil should be consumed after consultation with a doctor.
  • Lowers blood pressure
Regular consumption of CBD oil can reduce blood pressure. Such an event might be unhealthy for people who already suffer from low blood pressure.

Final words

Outlining gender-preferences regarding marijuana products is easier than pinpointing the actual reasons behind those preferences. Although surveys and research show a preference of CBD over THC for women, the conclusion that the reason behind this is the nonexistent psychoactive effect of CBD, can probably be debated. For example, women are said to prefer edible CBD products over smoke-able products. However, edible cannabis products happen to produce a longer “high” than smoke-able products. If this is the case, it is difficult to fully conclude that women prefer CBD because it lacks psychoactive effects.

What is easier to conclude, however, is women’s desire to avoid social stigma. The fact that 77% of women don’t trying CBD products openly is an indication that social stigma is another reason for the difference in the cannabis products preferences of men and women. Perhaps smoke-able THC products are just too difficult to conceal, given their more obvious psychoactive effects and strong odour. Perhaps they are just too difficult to be used without public knowledge or suspicion.
